On December 27, the design plan for the Mingjing Group Headquarters Building project on Plot No. [2024]86 of the Hangzhou Municipal Government’s Land Reserve was made public in Jianghai New City, Qiantang District, Hangzhou, adding another headquarters building to the core area of Dajiangdong.

The Mingjing Group Headquarters Building project is located on Plot QT080402-14 within the Jianghai City Unit, bounded by Plot QT080402-14-1 to the east, the planned Xiangmin Road to the south, the planned Qingxi Second Road to the west, and the green belt along Jiangdong Avenue to the north.

The project has a total investment of RMB 520 million, occupies a land area of 15,344 square meters, and features a total floor area of 68,408 square meters, including 46,032 square meters above ground and 22,376 square meters underground. The master plan calls for a 23-story headquarters office building, an 11-story hotel, and commercial and ancillary facilities spanning 2 to 4 floors. Construction is scheduled to take place from 2024 to 2027.

The project was designed by the Zhejiang Provincial Academy of Architectural Design. The main building comprises 23 floors, with a maximum height of 127 meters at the top structural frame. The façade features diamond-shaped diagonal bracing, while the roof is cut in a crystalline pattern, resulting in a striking and innovative form that echoes the iconic Bank of China Tower in Hong Kong.

Zhejiang Mingjing Holding Group Co., Ltd. was founded in 2005 and is a diversified, comprehensive enterprise integrating construction engineering, municipal engineering, interior decoration, landscape engineering, and real estate development. The group’s headquarters is located at No. 18 Yiqian East Street, Yipeng Subdistrict, on the south bank of the Qiantang River. In August 2024, one of its subsidiaries successfully acquired Plot QT080402-14 in the Jianghai City development zone to construct a headquarters building.

Coincidentally, the eastern parcel of the Mingjing Group Headquarters Building project—plot QT080402-14-1—was also put up for sale in November, with Hangzhou Fengling Real Estate Co., Ltd. emerging as the winning bidder. The plot is zoned for a maximum building height of 150 meters, matching the current tallest building in Dajiangdong, Smart Valley Tower 1, and together they will help define a brand-new skyline for Jianghai New City.

The Qiantang District’s Core River–Sea City is committed to developing a comprehensive business district that integrates headquarters offices, specialized services, business amenities, dining, and leisure facilities. Along Metro Line 8, multiple TOD clusters are planned, with the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Service Cluster at Qingxi Third Road Station and the Public Services and Business Headquarters Cluster at Qingliu Middle Road Station situated in the core area of the new city.

Qingxi Third Road TOD
The Mingjing Group Headquarters Building project is located north of the TOD area along Qingxi Third Road. In April 2024, Qiantang District issued an international public call for conceptual design proposals for the north–south twin towers and associated parcels within the Qingxi Third Road TOD zone, with the twin towers capped at a height of 135 meters, thereby adding two additional super-tall buildings to the area.

According to the master plan, the tallest buildings in Jianghai New City will be located at the Qingliu Middle Road TOD site, with the two core twin towers both exceeding the 150-meter height of Wisdom Valley. As more headquarters buildings are developed and completed, the Jiangdong area is poised to establish a brand-new, district-level urban skyline for Hangzhou.
