On March 30, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Housing and Urban–Rural Development approved the “Technical Code for Socket-and-Plug Type Cuplock Steel Pipe Formwork Support Systems in Construction” as a Zhejiang provincial engineering construction standard, designated as DB33/T1221-2020, which shall come into effect on May 1, 2021. According to the “2017 Zhejiang Provincial Plan for the Formulation and Revision of Standards for Building Energy Conservation, Green Buildings, and Related Engineering Construction,” the code development team conducted extensive surveys, carefully summarized domestic practical experience in the design and construction of socket-and-plug type cuplock steel pipe formwork support systems, carried out theoretical and experimental research, and, taking into account the actual conditions in Zhejiang Province and after soliciting broad public input, formulated this code. This code begins by clearly defining the concept of the socket-and-plug type cuplock formwork support system and then elaborates on the key technical requirements that must be observed, including the composition of such systems, calculation loads, structural design, construction and operational management, as well as inspection and acceptance. It applies to the design and construction of socket-and-plug type cuplock steel pipe formwork support systems used in the horizontal concrete structural construction of building projects in Zhejiang Province. The implementation of this code will help standardize the use of socket-and-plug type cuplock formwork support systems, promote the standardization and tool-based application of formwork support systems in construction projects, and contribute to an overall improvement in construction safety. It also holds practical significance for achieving green, resource-efficient construction practices in the building industry and for enhancing labor productivity. In accordance with the “2017 Zhejiang Provincial Plan for the Formulation and Revision of Standards on Building Energy Efficiency, Green Buildings, and Related Engineering Construction,” the drafting committee conducted extensive surveys, thoroughly summarized domestic practical experience in the design and construction of spigot-type, coupler-type steel pipe formwork support systems for building construction, and carried out theoretical and experimental research. Taking into account the specific conditions in Zhejiang Province and after soliciting broad public input, the committee has developed this code.
This code begins by clearly defining the concept of spigot-and-socket type wheel-lock formwork support systems and then provides detailed explanations of the key technical requirements that must be followed, including the system’s composition, design loads, structural design, construction and operational management, as well as inspection and acceptance procedures. It is applicable to the design and construction of spigot-and-socket type steel pipe formwork support systems used in the horizontal concrete structural works of construction projects in Zhejiang Province.
